About

What is Amazingface?
Amazingface is a private encrypted Vault for photos and videos. It stores imported files inside a separate local Vault on your device and uses AmazingDrop for end-to-end encrypted transfers. Amazingface is available now for iPhone and Mac. A native Windows app is planned.
Which platforms does Amazingface support?
Amazingface is available now for iPhone and Mac. A native Windows app is planned. Cross-device Vault sync and unified browsing across Vaults are not available in the current release.
How is Amazingface different from the iPhone Hidden Album?
Apple’s Hidden Album remains part of your Photos library and can sync across devices when iCloud Photos is enabled. Amazingface stores selected photos and videos as encrypted files inside a separate, app-managed local Vault, with its own recovery model and end-to-end encrypted AmazingDrop transfers. Is Amazingface just a locked album?
No. The photos and videos you import are stored as encrypted files inside a separate, app-managed local Vault—not merely behind an unlock screen.
Does Amazingface support videos?
Yes. You can import, view, export, and privately transfer supported photos and videos with Amazingface.
Can I export my photos out of Amazingface?
Yes. You can export photos from your encrypted Vault using the in-app export feature whenever you want. Your photos are yours.
Who is Amazingface best for?
Amazingface is for people who want certain photos and videos kept private and encrypted on their own device — personal archives, sensitive documents, or memories they would rather not mix into the regular photo library — and who occasionally need to send them securely to a trusted recipient.
How is Amazingface different from Apple Hidden Album and other encrypted photo Vaults?
Amazingface uses an app-managed local encrypted Vault and does not operate an Amazingface cloud photo library. Apple Hidden Album remains inside Photos; Vaultaire offers optional encrypted iCloud backup; Ente is an open-source, audited, end-to-end encrypted cloud photo service; and LockMyPix uses a different advertising and privacy-label model. The right choice depends on storage, recovery, cloud, platforms, and outside verification. See the source-linked photo Vault comparison
Does Amazingface collect any account or service data?
Yes. Amazingface keeps account identifiers, device public keys, purchase and subscription status, quota usage, referral, report, routing, and encrypted-delivery records needed to operate sign-in, subscriptions, abuse controls, and AmazingDrop. It does not receive plaintext Vault media, Vault passwords, recovery phrases, or plaintext content-decryption keys. Read the Privacy Policy

Security and privacy

Is Amazingface a cloud photo app?
No. Amazingface is designed around local encrypted storage. Your Vault is stored on your own device, not in an Amazingface cloud photo library.
Can Amazingface see my photos?
Amazingface is designed so the photos and videos in your private Vault are encrypted and opened inside the app. AmazingDrop transfers are encrypted before delivery.
Are my photos uploaded to Amazingface servers?
No. Your Vault photos stay on your device. Amazingface does not run a cloud photo library. The only thing that leaves your device is AmazingDrop transfer data, which is encrypted before upload and removed from the relay after delivery or expiration.
Can Amazingface see my photo thumbnails?
No. Thumbnails are generated and stored locally inside your encrypted Vault. Amazingface servers never receive your photo content or thumbnails.
Does Amazingface use analytics or ad tracking?
No. Amazingface does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or ad identifiers, and does not build a personal analytics profile of you.

Password and recovery

Can Amazingface recover my password?
No. If you forget your Vault password and lose your recovery phrase, Amazingface cannot recover your Vault for you.
Can Amazingface recover my photos if I lose my password?
No. Recovery is by design your responsibility. If you forget your Vault password and lose your recovery phrase, Amazingface cannot recover your photos for you, because it never holds your keys.

Deleting the app

What happens if I delete the app?
Amazingface stores your encrypted Vault locally. If you delete the app, your local encrypted Vault data may be deleted as well. Make sure you understand this before removing the app.

AmazingDrop

How does AmazingDrop work?
AmazingDrop lets you send encrypted photos and videos to a trusted recipient. The relay server helps deliver the encrypted transfer data, then removes it after delivery or expiration.
Does AmazingDrop store my photos on a server?
AmazingDrop is designed for transfer, not cloud storage. The relay server handles encrypted transfer data and removes it after delivery or expiration.
What is an AmazingDrop ID?
An AmazingDrop ID is a receiving handle that other people use to send you encrypted transfers. It identifies the recipient—not one specific device—and is not your Apple ID, email, or phone number.
What does the relay server receive?
The relay receives ciphertext, encrypted key envelopes, signatures, and the minimum account, device-key, quota, routing, referral, report, and delivery metadata needed to deliver AmazingDrop transfers. It does not receive plaintext photos or videos, plaintext thumbnails, your Vault password, recovery phrase, or content-decryption keys.

Pricing and usage

What counts toward my transfer usage?
AmazingDrop usage is counted from encrypted transfer data. On Plus and Pro, sent and received transfers share one monthly usage allowance. Free also sends and receives; its sent and received transfers share one 2 GB monthly allowance.
What happens when I run out of usage?
You can wait until your next billing cycle or buy additional usage for the current cycle. Additional usage expires at the end of the current subscription period.

Support and refunds

How do I request a refund?
App Store purchases are handled by Apple. You can request a refund through Apple’s official purchase support flow. Amazingface support can help you understand your subscription status, but refund decisions are made by Apple.
